Cheltenham gain revenge with home victory over Barts Rugby

Cheltenham 22 v 18 Barts Rugby

Cheltenham Tigers produced a festival of running rugby at Newlands Park as they avenged their 30-17 defeat at the hands of Barts Rugby earlier in the season. Before the match a minute’s silence was held for the untimely death of 19-year-old former colt Tom Millward.

The game was in the ninth minute when evergreen winger Richard Morris crossed the whitewash for a unconverted try. Barts hit back within three minutes when Ollie Nowell kicked a penalty.

Cheltenham’s skipper James Hillier forced his way over for a 20th-minute try with Josh Herbert converting, but from the restart Barts reduced the arrears with a unconverted try from James Willmott.

Barts were then reduced to 14 men by referee Matt Astle with Nowell shown a yellow card for back chat. Cheltenham were then hit by the loss of talisman Herbert with an ankle injury.
