WPC Davies – Memorial Match

Dear All
Thursday 8th November Cheltenham College Junior School are holding a memorial match on our AGP, kicking off at 6.30pm in memory of a former headmaster WPC Davies. Mr Davies played for Cheltenham in the early 1950’s, relocated to London to start his teaching career, joined Harlequins, was capped for England 11 times between 1953 and 1958 and toured with the British Lions in 1955, playing in  2 test matches in the undefeated tour. (His Lions blazer badge is on display in our Presidents lounge) He returned to Cheltenham in 1966, and became Club president in 1972 and retained that position until 1986 when he finally retired from teaching at the Junior school. It would be great if as many of you as possible could be early for training that night, be in Cheltenham apparel to watch the match and then perhaps start training after WPC’s daughter says a few words immediately after the game.
We are expecting quite a few people from the College to be watching and it would be a tremendous sign of the Clubs respect for a former player and official if as many of you as possible could attend
Many thanks
Steve Ratcliffe
Club Chairman
