The Whistler Trophy is awarded by The Gloucester & District Society of Rugby Football Referees
Clubs are marked by Referees & Referees Assessors who visit Clubs throughout the season, on the following points.
- Pre-match – Confirmation of Matches, times, colours etc.
- The Welcome they receive
- Changing Facilities and Pitches
- The manner in which matches are played, both on and off the pitch
- Post-Match Hospitality
The Whistler Trophy has been in existence since 1981 and has been awarded every season since, the idea of Nick Jones and ex Gloucestershire County Referee of note, who himself refereed The Combined Services XV against the touring All Blacks also in 1981. The first Trophy of its type which has now been copied by many Referee Societies across the Country.
