Mini & Youth Chairman’s Update

27th October 2020

Hi All,

I hope you are well and enjoying your weekly sessions as much as possible in these strange times. It’s very challenging providing the children with fun, current, non-contact sessions while keeping them interested but, after walking the field over the last few Sundays, I’ve been really impressed with how happy the kids have been and the level of coaching being delivered across the board. The children are very lucky to be involved with such fantastic age groups.

After communicating with various people and having moved the date back twice already, we’ve now been given a date to get all of our registrations completed. This date is Saturday 31st October. This means that any child who hasn’t been registered, put on our system and covered by our insurance will not be permitted to train. As always, we have something in place by where we can help any family who are likely to struggle with the fee. Please give them my details and I’ll help in the best way that I can. Sophie will send every age group a list of registered players this week and then a final list by the weekend. You should all be aware Sophie will be going on maternity leave soon, so it is important this process is completed.

After many months of negotiating, Steve Ratcliffe has managed to get us the AGP on Friday evenings. That means we are now in a position where we can host two games every Friday night under the floodlights. These games can be against local clubs and it’s up to your coaches if you’d like to play TOUCH or READY 4 RUGBY rules. As per your normal membership, food will be supplied after these games for both the home team and their opposition and the bar will be open until 10pm. Available dates will be issued on request. This will mean that our children finally have some competitive rugby to look forward to. There are lots of exciting ideas floating behind the scenes on how the M&Y section and the club as a whole can progress and keep moving forwards. I’ll update you as soon as these come to fruition.

As always, if you have any concerns or need any help with sorting registrations etc then please don’t hesitate in contacting me directly. I’ll be more than willing to help you as best as I can.

Take care and thanks for taking the time to read this.
