“I have thoroughly enjoyed being involved with Cheltenham Tigers as President of the women’s section for a number of years. We have had some memorable matches, not least this year’s grand day out at Twickenham, and it has been a great pleasure to see the game develop and grow at Newlands. We have enjoyed enormous success thanks to the commitment and energy of everyone involved.
Towner is a big character at the club and has made a huge contribution. His are big shoes to fill and while I can’t promise to lead “Dad’s Army” or make it along to quite as many matches, I will do my best to keep bar takings ticking over and attend as many games as I can once I have fulfilled my broadcasting commitments for ITV at the Rugby World Cup.
We’ve had some great days down at Newlands and spent so many happy Sunday mornings there with the family. I’m looking forward to seeing the club continue to flourish and give as many people as possible the opportunity to become involved in the game.”
