Under 10s

Welcome to the Cheltenham RFC Under 10’s!

Cheltenham RFC is a proud community rugby club built on the dedication of volunteers, and nowhere is that spirit stronger than in our Mini & Junior sections.

Our Under 10’s squad is coached and managed entirely by enthusiastic parents who give their time, energy, and passion to help our young players develop. The joy of coaching this age group is as rewarding for the adults as it is exciting for the children, and together we build the foundations of a lifelong love of rugby.

At this stage, we focus on developing core rugby skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while beginning to introduce the competitive side of the game in a supportive and fun environment.

Our aims for the season are to:

• Catch, pass and run with the ball with confidence
• Prepare for competition in a positive and encouraging way
• Learn and live the core values of rugby of teamwork, respect, enjoyment, discipline, and sportsmanship
• Develop the basics of contact rugby safely and effectively
• Enjoy being active and outdoors
• Foster team spirit and support each other on and off the pitch

Most importantly – HAVE FUN!

• When: Sundays, starting at 9:45am
• Where: Cheltenham RFC Grounds
• The team manager will share updates on any changes to training or fixture schedules.
• The season runs from September to the end of April, with breaks during school holidays.

Throughout the season, our Under 10’s will take part in a series of fixtures and mini rugby festivals across Gloucestershire and the wider region. These provide a fantastic opportunity for players to test their skills, make new friends, and experience the excitement of competitive play in a supportive environment.

Key events in our calendar typically include:

• Local fixtures against clubs
• Participation in mini festivals hosted by regional clubs
• Friendly home tournaments at Cheltenham RFC
• End-of-season festival bringing together teams from across the county

In addition, players recently had the chance to visit and play at Twickenham, the home of English rugby, a truly memorable experience that inspires young players to dream big and embrace the spirit of the game.
